An unlikely trio of Steve Martin, Selena Gomez, and Martin Short come together to star in a television series about a true-crime-obsessed trio who come together to solve a murder in their building.
There are so many reasons to fall in love with this show from steve martin and martin short collaborating once again, Selena Gomez’s return to television, historic New York architecture, and podcasting. Once you enter this world that feels so comforting with even a murderer on the loose, you will never want to leave.
After weeks of clues and trying to figure out who the killer is, the season 1 finale perfectly wraps up the Tim Kono case in a satisfying reveal. The only questions left are what happened to our heroic trio that they are now framed as the villains. The series balanced setting up season 2 with flash-forwards while resolving the Kono case.
The friendship between the three is so interesting to watch as they start as strangers and then slowly become intertwined in each other’s lives. Each in their own isolation learns how to open up back to life through solving a murder. The chemistry is undeniable.
The series throws in some dead ends and twists to keep audiences on their toes without making it a headache. In the beginning, it seemed like Mabel committed the deadly act due to her connection to Tim but as her backstory continues to unwind she is no longer a suspect.
It plays into people’s obsession with true crime and solving cases from your couch. It feels aware of people watching the case play out in real-time. Overall, it is a heartfelt series with comedic relief and mystery that is some of the best television of the year!
