Moon Knight Episode 3: Meet Marc
Right as audiences began to vibe with museum gift shop owner Steven Grant, they were whisked away to Egypt to spend some time with someone they haven’t seen too much: Marc Spector.
The mercenary finds himself in Cairo on the hunt for Arthur Harrow. Marc realizes that Arthur’s efforts to bring Ammit back to life are going to plan with the help of other Egyptian gods. Our protagonist realizes it is time to ask for help with taking Harrow down and figuring out what is happening with his own mind. Three episodes in and Moon Knight has not dove into Marc’s DID, instead it uses it as a vehicle to progress the narrative. Marvel is taking a unique approach with this unfamiliar character by putting the series through the lens of one of his alters versus focusing on the crime-fighting persona of Marc.
Episode three focuses on who is worthy of trust. Marc and Steven must learn how to trust and work together in order to resolve both major conflicts. This episode allows Oscar Issac to showcase the strength of his dual performance. Each one serves a purpose with their specific skill sets - Steven’s extensive Egyptian knowledge or Marc’s fighting abilities. They are literally two halves that make a whole.
