Enola Holmes
Millie Bobbie Brown stars as the title character in Enola Holmes. Brown, known as Eleven on Stranger Things, is radiant in this mature role where she is obviously having the time of her life.
The film is based on the Young Adult novel series of the same name. It finds Sherlock's younger sister solving mysteries, getting in trouble, and making her own place in life. She is more than her famous name. The film is filled with infectious energy from the use of breaking the fourth wall.
Enola and her mother do whatever they please in their country mansion until one day she disappears and leaves Enola to fend for herself. Enola is left with a set of cryptic clues to find out what happened to her mother.
In the midst of this light, family-friendly adventure there is a central theme of the fight for female liberation. The film feels like it splits into two different stories of Enola trying to find her mother while also protecting Viscount Lord Tewksbury. The cinematography brings to life a colorful London that is full of chaos as Enola navigates it on her own. Thanks to Brown's charisma she is able to carry both plotlines and mend them together.
