Avengers Endgame: A heart-filled conclusion to the epic saga.
My introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universal started in 2015 with the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron. I suddenly became obsessed with the storyline and characters. This prompted me to start from the beginning with Iron Man and keep track of any new updates on movies and characters. Every time a new film came out I would immediately get excited and as the movies mixed together with the different franchises it made me more ecstatic for the movies. The news of Infinity War and Endgame brought out the true fangirl in me as I spent a year following the production of each and keeping track of fan theories. Avengers Endgame is a farewell and celebration of our favorite characters we have grown accustomed to for the last 11 years. This was a love letter to fans as well as arguably the best movie in the MCU.
Avengers Endgame was everything I could have asked for in a movie. I have never felt so satisfied by watching a movie. There were no parts that I felt were boring or unnecessary in fact I wanted even more. The three hours and two minutes went by so fast and I was in-tuned to every single second of the movie. Endgame had heart and tells the story of a failure transitioning into a mission to save humanity. The emphasis on the theme of friendship drove the movie. Each character was given their time to shine and had an essential part in the plot. The original six Avengers were heavily focused on with the support of gems like Paul Rudd with his incredible comedic timing. The stakes for this film were high as they had to follow last year's tear-jerking blockbuster with the mission to make right in their new reality and they succeeded. Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. both delivered performances of a lifetime. The relationships in this film are put to the test based on the character arcs. The MCU succeeds in its ability to bring together a diverse group of actors and have the most genuine chemistry achieved onscreen. Everyone brought their best in their performances. There were so many heart-filled moments to showcase the evolution of the characters from their first debuts. This signaled a shift in tone and perspective from Infinity War.
The visual effects and cinematography were absolutely stunning. I had to keep reminding myself that this was filmed on a sound stage. I was completely blown away, every single action scene deserves to be screened on the biggest screen ever. The scenes in space on planets like Vormir had the most aesthetically appealing colors and I could not believe that the teams at Marvel were able to bring it to life. That final battle scene was epic and had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I loved that each hero was able to showcase the best of their abilities when fighting the purple Titan. I have never screamed and cheered so much during a scene in a movie. It was so satisfying to watch and you could feel the amount of excitement in the theater. This film earns its spot of the Academy Awards 2020 ballot.
The Russo brothers and their team did an amazing job of finishing the twenty movie saga. Each character arc had their own satisfying end that did not stray away from the evolution of their characters over the past eleven years. There is so much I want to say about this movie but I just can not find the words because I am still impacted by it. I will say that everything I watched is what I have been wanting to see in a Marvel movie signaling that this was definitely meant for their fans who have spent years dedicated to these characters and their storylines. I also feel that the movie wrapped perfectly to head into the next phase and set up each character well. Avengers Endgame is the best Marvel film and definitely a once and a lifetime film. I am looking forward to where the MCU is taking us next.
