After We Collided

Anna Todd's After Series chronicles the rollercoaster relationship between an innocent woman and a bad boy. The first film adaptation was bad and took multiple watches to get through. Major flaws were the dull characters, lack of chemistry, and uninteresting plot. The story started off as a One Direction fan-fiction and is targeting a young audience. Its follow-up, After We Collided, is even lazier.

After tells the lack of progression of the relationship between Tessa Young and Hardin Scott. The sequel picks up a month later where Hardin's days are filled with drinking and thinking about Tessa. In contrast, Tessa has started a new job as an intern reading manuscripts for a publishing company and manages to find the next bestseller.

What makes the sequel so bad is that there is no story in the screenplay, it is just a series of incidents in a relationship. They come across as toxic and safe. The two main characters are boring and even less appealing than in the first film. The film dives into R-rated territory with sex scenes and cursing that feel like it is trying too hard.

It doesn't work as a romantic drama, it is just bad.
